CIVIC EDUCATION
- Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington, DC on 28 August 1963 Full video (17 minutes). "We Shall Overcome" lyrics and history.
We, Cambodians, should not forget the patience, activism and courage of black America. President Barack Obama did not arise out of a vacuum but rode on the shoulders of giants who went before him. Let us Cambodians be "giants" for our children and children's children in the building of a better Cambodia. On the anniversary of this inspirational speech of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I Have a Dream, let us be reminded that history is not made by born-heroes but by ordinary individuals like Dr. King who did not shy away from extraordinary times and circumstances. - Theary Seng
