ASEAN Voices - President Obama's Visit
Friday, 12 March 2010 21:23

Dear Sir/Madam,

This month President Obama of the United States is coming to Indonesia, ASEAN’s largest country and home to the ASEAN Secretariat.  This will be his second visit to the ASEAN region in less than a year.

To share information about this historic visit and to help strengthen ASEAN identity, a new site, www.aseanvoices.org, has been launched.  It aims to encourage citizens of ASEAN countries to share their views on how the USA and ASEAN can work together for the betterment of our region and the world.

ASEAN visitors to the site can write letters to President Obama expressing their opinions on the following subjects: education, the environment, economic development, internet freedom, and interfaith relations.  Those who don’t post letters can still participate by commenting on and voting for the best letters written by their fellow ASEAN citizens.

Letters with the most votes will be sent to the White House, and one winner from each of the five categories will win free airplane tickets to Hanoi, which will host the 16th ASEAN Summit this April 8-9, or other exciting ASEAN destinations, compliments of AirAsia.

I encourage you to visit www.aseanvoices.org frequently over the next few weeks, and hope for your active participation.  I also encourage you to share this information with your colleagues and membership  so that they can participate as well.

Tim
